Now onto the nail polishes...
I was playing around with the sheerer OPI polishes in my collection, Breathe Life and Happy Anniversary. Both require about 4-5 coats (and lots of drying time) to achieve what it looks like in the bottle. I was trying to cut down on the coats while maintaining the overall appearance.

Here are some quick swatches of two coats of each polish just to show how sheer they are. Breathe life is on the left, Happy Anniversary is on the right. They have a similar look to them when lightly swatched. Breathe Life is pearly with a blue green glow, Happy Anniversary is a shimmery silver microglitter.

I ended up with one coat of Happy Anniversary over one coat of Breathe Life to cut down on the coats and drying time. Breathe Life compliments Happy Anniversary really well, it succesfully brought out the pretty microglitter.
Readers, what are your thoughts on sheer polishes? Do you normally just put up with the extra coats and drying time?
XOXO, M
Thanks for the polish swatches. I usually do not buy super sheer polishes because I like bright or color cremes the most. I buy sheer polishes as top coats though, like if they have shimmer or flakes. ^^
ReplyDeleteThis is WONDERFUL on you x
ReplyDeleteI don't like sheer polishes, but I think this would look really nice over a plain French tip! : D
ReplyDeleteI have happy anniversary! I usually just put 2 coats, because I feel like that's enough for my nails. Haha. :)
ReplyDeleteReminds me of how sheer the OPI Kyoto Pearl is...probably not as sheer as these 2, but definitely not opaque
ReplyDeleteso pretty!! that color will look really great as a top coat for so many polishes!
ReplyDeleteThat combination is lovely~ it really does bring out those subtle sparkles. :]
ReplyDeleteAs for me and sheer polishes, I tend to build them up to as much as I can...but then give up since I figure it's meant to be sheer and just go for the more "natural" look. I don't mind it though.
two really nice sheers. it shimmers really lovely on natural nails.
ReplyDeleteI like to use them over light colours. Makes a nice effect :)
